My Chapter in Smashing Book 3
Last month Vitaly Friedman from Smashing Magazine got in touch with an invitation to contribute a chapter for the latest Smashing Book – the third in a series of books published by Smashing Magazine. I wrote two chapters for the first book, and have agreed to give this one a go too. It was late in the process so we had to move quickly. Very soon we’ve had the chapter content figured out and outlined – Vitaly already had an idea of what he wanted to cover – and I went ahead with the research, structure and writeup.
The theme: innovative techniques for building better user experiences. The chapter covers a lot of various techniques to help improve user experience, starting with the signup process and going into experimental techniques and customer service, as well as covering some things you may wish to avoid. It was a fun chapter to write and I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out. Vitaly has given me a lot of leads to research and it was interesting for me to learn about some of these newer techniques. Can’t wait to see the final printed book.
